Birth Story: Scheduled C-Section

I am so excited to share my birth story with you all! It was certainly a crazy journey, to say the least from trying to conceive for over a year, the return of my fibroids, and the ups and downs of a high risk pregnancy, but I wouldn’t change a thing because it all led to this!

On June 7 th 2017, I walked into the hospital at 37 weeks for my scheduled C-section scared and excited about becoming a mom for the first time! As I was getting prepped and ready for delivery I started to develop preeclampsia, so things started to move very quickly. Shortly after I was greeted by a team of doctors as I entered the delivery room and was given an epidural and spinal tap due to the number of fibroids I had and not knowing what complications may come of it.
I lay there on the table with Nick by my side anticipating this little girl’s arrival and after what felt like hours we welcomed Rylee Savannah Heart into the world at 12:25pm. She weighed 5lbs 3oz and was 18 inches long.

I can’t explain the overwhelming emotions that I felt as I held my daughter for the first time, taking in every inch of her in complete awe. She was healthy and the most beautiful thing I had ever seen, making the last 37 weeks all worth it!

Unfortunately complications didn’t end there as I developed a fever and needed to be closely monitored overnight and just when the doctors were able to get that under control my blood pressure spiked again. After 5 days in the hospital I was finally released and although my journey to becoming a mother wasn’t what I had planned, everything worked out well in the end and God blessed us with a beautiful baby girl.
